Our Events

Proudly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) and Queensland Health’s Small Talk, Big Difference campaign has been created to encourage community connectedness, assist Queenslanders to start the conversation about mental health, and feel confident about discussing mental health with friends, family and colleagues.

Brew with a View – photography masterclass

Join the Small Talk, Big Difference team with Russell Shakespeare from Russell Shakespeare photography for our next upcoming FREE event, Brew with a View.
Brew with a View is a free-of-charge photography masterclass that will tie into this year’s Queensland Mental Health week’s theme ‘take time for mental health’.
This masterclass encourages people of all ages and skillsets to capture their moments of connection with others by simply sharing a cuppa in a setting that sparks emotion and has special meaning to them.
A winner will be chosen four weeks later on Tuesday 10 November.

"Take some time for Relaxation" presented by Sharyn Bunn

When stress and tension build up in our bodies and minds it can begin to impact our mental health and ability to carry on with normal daily activities. When we have been experiencing stress for a long period of time or when we haven’t taken enough time away from work or other responsibilities, often high levels of physical and psychological tension stay with us for longer and longer periods. We may begin to experience increases in feelings of: frustration, irritability, anxiety, anger and nervousness. We may notice physical symptoms such as headaches, backaches, fatigue, and muscle tension. Relaxation is the process of letting go of tension and has a beneficial effect on the nervous system and our overall feelings of well-being.

This webinar aims to increase:
• Awareness of physical and psychological signs of stress and tension;
• Awareness of techniques to relax the body and mind to allow tension to reduce;
• Ability to engage relaxation strategies through participating in guided progressive muscle relaxation training.
